A. Marie
Herrmann
Sep 5, 1928 — Nov 17, 2024
Our family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of A. Marie Herrmann (Stephens) on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the age of 96 years.
Marie was born in Ellsinore, Missouri on September 5, 1928, to Walter and Zelphia Stephens.
She worked at Home Federal Savings Bank as a bank auditor for over 20 years before retiring.
Marie loved flowers and enjoyed walking around her backyard showing off each flower bed. She belonged to several garden clubs through the years. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, latch hook, and embroidery.
Marie shared her love of reading by giving her grandkids and great grandkids books (along with an ornament) each Christmas. She anxiously awaited the newest books from her favorite authors. As her eyes failed her in later years, she continued to listen to audio books.
During their 45 years together, Marie and George enjoyed many trips around the country and had especially fond memories visiting family in Canada, Mexico, and Iowa.
She loved spending holidays and special occasions with her family. One of her favorites was sharing her cookie recipes on holiday baking day and helping the grandkids decorate the sugar cookies.
Marie collected everything frogs from figurines to garden ornaments. Friends and family brought her frogs from all over the world.
Marie is survived by her husband George, her son Roy Marler (Debbie), and three children through marriage, Kathy Brasher, Karen Grubb, Tom Herrmann (Linda). She has ten grandchildren, Ed Marler (Kelly), Tim Brasher (Vanezza), Matt Herrmann (Isil), Joanie Grill (John), David Kyle Grubb (Crystal), Becky Rogers (Sean), Nick Marler (Tara), Mike Brasher, Geoff Marler (Margo), and Tommy Herrmann. Her surviving sister Ruba Keel and surviving sisters in law, Norma Stephens and Gloria Stephens. 18 great grandchildren also survive her along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Zelphia (Johnson) Stephens, brothers Sherdan Stephens and Willie Stephens, sister Bonnie Henderson, brothers in law Alex Keel and Ted Henderson and sons in law Ron Brasher and Jim Grubb.
Donations in Marie's honor can be made to the Friends of Wolfner Library. This organization provided her with audio books for many years; she even became friends with some of the Reader Advisors.
