Her beautiful, kind, golden heart has been called home.Barbara Ann Groneck, 84, was called to everlasting peace on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022 at SSM/St. Joseph's West — Lake St. Louis, Mo.Barb, born Dec. 9, 1937 to John E. And Alma Groneck in St. Louis, devoted her life to loving people and God and helping everyone she could along the way. She attended St. Engelbert's Grade School for her early primary years. Then, after the passing of her mother, Barb went to boarding school for eight years at St. Elizabeth Academy. In 1954, she joined the Society of the Precious Blood, where she remained until 1968. Barb has taught First, Second, Fifth and Sixth grades. She worked as an administrative assistant from 1969-2000 at SLUH.Barb enjoyed needlework, family, traveling, poetry, bingo with her community and reading a good mystery novel. And, although no longer a Religious, she was very involved with The Sisters of the Most Precious Blood as a Partner in Mission, always volunteering to help where needed, whether in the Villa Theresa Apartments, where she lived for 10 years, as a hospice volunteer, or anywhere she could lend a needed hand.On Oct. 5, 2013, Barb received the SanguisChristi Award for Presence, recognizing her "gentle and caring presence at Villa Theresa and among the Partners in Mission."Barb was preceded in death by her father, John E. Groneck; her mother, Alma FREY Groneck; her stepmother, Doris Groneck, and nephew Jeffrey (Jeff) Pilger. She is survived by two brothers, John (Jack) Groneck (Carol); Richard Groneck (Beverly); two sisters, Elizabeth (late Dennis) McLaughlin and Susan Pilger (Hal); six nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and nephews and friends far and near.Barb's family is being served by Collier Funeral Home. Mass will be Saturday, Jan. 15 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, ****403 N. MAIN *** O'Fallon, Mo. Viewing will be 9:30-10 a.m. in the church vestibule, with a Celebration of Life at 10. Mass also may be viewed live-stream at 9:55@ AssumptionBVM.org. Burial will immediately follow mass at Calvary, 5239 W. Florissant Ave., St. Louis, Mo. In lieu of flowers, donations my be made to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, 2320 Pine Street, St. Louis, Mo., 63103 (www.strayrescue.org) or The American Cancer Society, 4215 Lindell Blvd. St. Louis, Mo., 63108 (www.cancer.org).
