It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father and husband,
Benito D. Rivera, DVM, at the age of 90.

Benito was born on March 21, 1934, in Batangas City, Philippines. He achieved his
Veterinary degree from the University of the Philippines in 1957. He immigrated to the US
in 1971 with the dream of making a better life for his family. Through hard work,
perseverance and unwavering commitment to his goals, he achieved the American Dream.
He worked for the Humane Society of St. Louis for years until he started his own practice in
1980 in Bethalto, Illinois. He loved his practice and worked until he was 88 years old. He
built a successful life as a dedicated veterinarian. He was known for his gentle nature and
expertise; he cared for countless animals and became a trusted friend to many.
Benito's success was not only measured by his career achievements but by the family he
raised, the friendships he had developed and the love he gave to all who knew him. His
sense of humor, warmth and quiet wisdom left a lasting impression on those fortunate
enough to cross his path.

Benito is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lucia. His children Arthur Kim, Ferdinand
and his wife Cindy, Arnold Dino, Emmanuel and his wife Lorraine. His grandchildren
Victoria, Cameron, Bennet, Zachary and great grandchildren Xander and Apollo.
Benito was a man of integrity, humor and deep compassion. His lifelong journey -
from the Philippines to reach his dreams in the US – was a testament to his determination
and love for others. His friends, colleagues and family will forever hold him in their hearts,
remembering the joy, laughter and kindness he brought into their lives.

A memorial service in his honor will be on December 28, 2024, at Holy Spirit
Catholic Church in Maryland Heights. Services will begin at 9 am. Mass will be at 10 am
rom 9 am with church services at 10 am and reception to follow in the parish hall.
