Obituary

Bernard "Lucky" Willen passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, in his home town of St. Louis Missouri, on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at the age of 59, following his battle with cancer. He showed nothing but courage and tenacity all the way until the end and continues to be an inspiring force for many.

Lucky was known as a loving father and friend who held numerous titles in his life, ranging from outdoorsman to artist; but his favorite roles were being a devoted father, grandfather, son and brother. Lucky started his career running deliveries at his father's delivery shop, RX Delivery and he continued to wear many different hats throughout his life until he found a home at Mednik Riverbend, where he spent the last 20 years and built a great deal of lifelong friendships.

Lucky is survived by his children, Mitchell Willen, Cheryl Macklin and her husband James, his granddaughter Brooke Macklin, along with his brothers, Robert Willen and his wife Amber and Frank Willen and his wife Laura.

Lucky has countless friends and family members whom he gathered with to play sports, including disc golf and softball, to ride motorcycles with and best of all to go camping with. "I go where I'm towed" you might hear him say. Aside from his love for friends and family, Lucky was passionate about photography and videography. Almost anywhere he went Lucky had his camera (or 3) and would take the time to capture every caterpillar, cloud, blade of grass, or scenic view he came across simply because he appreciated life and living things so much. Besides nature, Lucky loved capturing the special moments of friends and family, one of his many hobbies was creating home videos of camping trips, birthday parties and holidays. His artwork and passions will be treasured for years to come. Lucky will be deeply missed by many.

Lucky's family will host a visitation ceremony of Friday, July 28, from 4:00-8:00 PM at COLLIER'S Funeral Home, 3400 N. Lindbergh Blvd. (St. Ann).
