Obituary

Carl H. Wolff of New Melle, MO, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, died on March 31, 2023 after a long and valiant battle with MSA at the age of 80. Beloved husband of 59 years of Donna M. (nee Bader), loving father of seven sons, Greg (Liz), Steve (Lisa), Jeff (Lauren), Mike (Margaret), Tim (Christine), Matt (Jeanine), and Chris (Lisa). He was a proud grandfather of 24, and great grandfather of two. Brother of Norman (the late Dolly), JoAnn (John) Kolbe, and Dale (Debby). Our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Carl was a skilled sportsman, and enjoyed baseball, softball, golf, horseshoes, and bowling. He was a member of the St. Charles Bowling Hall of Fame with 23 sanctioned perfect games. Carl also enjoyed learning, especially about computers, and was self-taught in programming languages. He was an active member at Immaculate Heart of Mary for many years, volunteering at the church dinners, and helping with various building projects.

Carl was a well-respected member of the construction industry and community. He operated Wolff Construction, a residential builder. He also enjoyed woodworking, and specialized in customized projects. Carl was a friend to many and never had an unkind word for anyone. He was a hard worker, making sure his sons we well educated and cared for. He and Donna shared a lifetime filled with love and laughter, enjoying the good times, and trusting in God to help them through the rough times. Their greatest joy was their family - fussy babies were always handed over to Carl, who promptly put them to sleep with his legendary patience. That patience and kindness carried him through the ten years of dealing with neurological disease, quietly accepting each phase with courage, never complaining or losing his sense of humor, remaining alert and intelligent to the end.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Omer Ulrich Wolff and Freda Minnie (nee Weinrich), and two sisters, Betty Wolff and Dorothy Boston, sister-in-law Gerrie Bader, and brothers-in-law Lynn Lauer, Jim Peanick, Ron Kessels, and Tom Beckermann.

Carl will be sorely missed, but his family is so grateful for his life and loving example. Masses preferred, or, if desired, donations may be made to Birthright, St. Dominic High School, or Food for the Poor. Visitation will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in New Melle from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, and for one hour preceding his funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 3.
