Obituary

Carol Martha Babich (nee Symons),  of St. Louis, Missouri died on Thursday, December 9, 2021 after a short battle with Leukemia.  She was born on March 31, 1941 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Nathan B. and Bertha M. Symons.

The act of serving others was how Carol showed her love. Nothing was too difficult for her. She was the first one to get involved if there was a need to be met and was quick to ask, "How can I help?".

Carol was a member of Grace Church-St Louis for forty years.  In addition to being a member of the church, she served as a layman counselor and later was asked to be a part of the pastoral staff. Carol served as a pastor at Grace for 17 years. When she saw a need she was quick to become part of the ministry that met that need. During her time on the pastoral staff, Carol was head of the Women's Ministry, Bereavement, Weddings, the Information Table Ministry, Volunteer Coordinator and a part of numerous other serving ministries at the church.

Throughout Carol's life she was a leader, a mentor, a role model, and a friend to many. To her family, Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved having friends and family gatherings and cooking amazing meals.  She was creative and loved beauty in her home, her garden, and in the world.  Although Carol had only a high school degree, she encouraged her family and many others to go beyond their perceived limitations and strive for excellence.  She believed you could do anything that you put your mind to. Her encouragement will be greatly missed.

Carol is survived by her husband of 60 years, Millard (Butch) Babich; her three children, Stacey Williams (John), Julie Laytham (Scott), Christopher Babich (Noelle); her seven grandchildren, Jonathan Williams (Sarah), Caitlin Wilson (Britton), Taylor Rupel (Nick), Adam Laytham, and Jordyn, Kylie and Lane Babich; her two great grandchildren, Abishai and Atticus Wilson; her three sisters, Jocelyn Lynn (Ted), Elizabeth Davidson (late Alexander), Marion Mezmar (Matthew); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Grace Church-St. Louis in Maryland Heights, Missouri on Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 11 am -12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society www.lls.org
