Donald L Owen, 82, of Hazelwood Mo. Passed away on Friday, June 23rd, 2023 after fighting a valiant battle of health related issues brought on from a series of strokes.
He was born July 14th, 1940 and was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Owen. After graduating from high school in 1957 he served his country in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged. He then began work in the Aeronautical field as a draftsman, working his way to Engineer with McDonnell Douglas, with whom he retired after 33 years of service.
Donald was known for being hardworking, regimented, committed, and enjoyed a good joke or razzing with friends and family. Don was an outdoorsman, loved gardening, fishing, hunting, dancing with his bride, barbecuing and bowling. Reaching many bowling achievements including a perfect game as well as an 800 series. Donald was a great father, provider and mentor to his family and friends.
Donald was the beloved husband of Patricia (Emerson) Owen since their marriage in August of 1964; Father of Damian L (Kathy) Owen, Darby R (Tracy) Owen. Donald is also survived by his 7 grandchildren; Ashly Gunn, Kayla Reed, Jacob Owen, Caleb Owen, Katrina Owen, Noah Owen, Averie Owen, three great grandchildren Jaxson, Owen and Callie.
Donald , the oldest of 6 siblings is survived by his 3 sisters: Sue (Owen) Hadley, Kay (Owen) Koehn, Janie Marie (Owen) Hofflinger, brother Edward Owen, and brother and sister-in-laws, many nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Clyde Owen.
Visitation Wednesday, July 5, 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM at COLLIER'S Funeral Home, 3400 N. Lindbergh Blvd. (St. Ann). Funeral Mass Wed. July 5th 11:00 AM at St. Martin De Porres Church, 615 Dunn Rd. (Hazelwood). Interment St. Ferdinand Cemetery.
