Dorothy "Dottie"
Abbott
Apr 6, 1929 — Mar 30, 2024
Abbott, Dorothy "Dottie," fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church, peacefully departed from this world on Saturday, March 30, 2024, after bravely battling breast cancer, macular degeneration, and kidney and heart disease. She was 94 years old. Beloved wife of the late Edwin Abbott, dear daughter of the late Frank and Violet Kubernat, sister of the late Alois Kubernat (Eleanor), dearest mother of Cheryl Abbott, Kevin Abbott (Jannea), Jim Abbott (Kristi), Kathy Milkoski (Rob), and the late Michael Abbott; grandma to 9 grandchildren: Chris Abbott, Lindsay Winterer, Brian Abbott, Samantha Abbott, Matt Milkoski, Sean Milkoski, Megan Krugg, Justin Abbott, and Brendan Abbott; great-grandma to 15 great-grandchildren; dear aunt, and great-aunt.
Dottie was a woman of great faith and volunteered for many organizations at her church. Because of her love of music and beautiful voice, she sang in the choir at the then St. Gregory's parish in St. Ann for 50 years. She also directed and performed in the parish variety shows for several years, always encouraging her family to be cast members.
She loved going to the casino and trips to Las Vegas; trips with the Golden Club; playing Bingo at her church; playing boardgames, cards, and dice; reading; crocheting; cooking; baking; helping her friend who had a catering business; and watching old movies and anything on the Hallmark channel.
Fiercely independent, Dottie lived in her home even after she was diagnosed with macular degeneration in both eyes many years ago. With the help of her children and friends, she was able to continue to live independently in her home, enjoy playing several games, go out to eat, and get her hair done until just a couple of months before her passing.
Dottie loved and supported her family. She was generous, kind, and loved by everyone who met her.
