Dorothy May Gilsinger passed away May 7, 2023 at age 94.
Dorothy was born in St. Louis, MO on 5/28/1928 to William F. Dunkman and Cornelia Dunkman (nee Leibing,) the 11th of 12 siblings: Bill, Mardel, Bob, Delphine, LaVerne, Richard, Ruth, Lorraine (Lo,) Cornelia (Connie,) Rogers and Ray
Dorothy graduated from Hadley Technical School.
She married Robert W. Gilsinger on January 23, 1954 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in St. Louis. They were married 67 years.
Dorothy had four children: Robert Jr., Barbara, Joseph and Maureen
Dorothy's passing was preceded by her parents', all of her siblings', her husband, Robert Sr.'s and daughter Maureen Schwering's.
She is survived by her children: Robert Jr. and wife, Jane; Barbara Aubuchon, and husband, Jim; Joe, grandchildren; Luke Gilsinger, Kurt Gilsinger, Zac Schwering and son-in-law Mike Schwering.
Dorothy's great happiness was her enormous family. Family gatherings could be raucous fun. She was a mainstay at the Little League sports of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and in attendance at the parks and fields where they played.
Dorothy loved the St. Louis Cardinals to the end.
Dorothy was a voracious reader, and her favorite TV were cooking shows, HGTV shows, any and all sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and the Olympics.
Dorothy was stylish, creative and resourceful which style was reflected in her dress and which creativity and resourcefulness showed in everything from how she kept up her house to the fabulous Halloween costumes she created for her children.
Donations in lieu of flowers to St. Vincent DePaul or The Humane Society .
Visitation Thursday, May 18, 4:00 PM until time of Mass 5:00 PM at St. Ann Church (Normandy), 7530 Natural Bridge Rd. Interment Friday, May 19,11:15 AM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. There will be a social following Mass in the downstairs hall of church.
