Ed Dixon, loving father, brother, and uncle, passed away in his home on July 26, 2021, just two days after his 80th birthday.
Ed Dixon was born on July 23, 1941 the second child of Margaret (Fran) and Edward Dixon. Ed was the oldest son, and one of fourteen children. Ed had a life-long love of racing and was a fierce and ruthless competitor. He quickly rose through the ranks as a top competitor on the Gateway International Raceway stage. According to Gateway International Raceway at his introduction into the Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 2010, Ed Dixon defined "hardcore racer."
This passion for racing carried into his second career after retiring from Tarlton Corporation in 1985, and he began Ed Dixon Innovations in 1983. Ed purchased Callier Steel's mechanical assets after their withdrawal from racing and his business took off. Ed and his team of loyal business partners have run his engine building and tuning facility for racers near and far for the past several years.
Ed married his soulmate, Kathy Gill, on January 1, 1983, and they went on to enjoy a wonderful life together full of family, friends, and their numerous beloved pups over the years.
He was preceded in death by his children Lisa Perry and Dawn Bove', Parents Ed and Margaret (Fran) Zurosky, sisters Gina Adamson and Peggy Roberts.
He is survived by his beloved wife Kathy Dixon; children Dale and Randy; brothers and sisters Doug Dixon, Mary Dormuth, Fran Kiefer, Stan (Shelly) Zurosky, Nancy (Craig) Horton, Bunny (John) O'Mara, Bev Zurosky, Vickie Layton, Tina Zurosky, Brian (Jean) Zurosky, Myles Zurosky, Brenda (Tom) Glaze; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 31st from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Colliers Funeral Home 3400 N Lindbergh Blvd, St Ann, MO 63074 . Condolences may be sent to 11620 Terry Ave Maryland Heights, MO 63043.
