Jul 30, 1922 — May 6, 2025
Gladys Lee Janoski (née Griffin), of Bridgeton, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at the remarkable age of 102.
Born on July 30, 1922, in Alabama to the late George Lark Griffin and Lula Lee Griffin, Gladys was one of seven children and is preceded in death by her siblings Ocola, Irma, Burford, Maureen, Alice, and Vance Griffin. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence Janoski Sr.
Gladys was the devoted mother of Sandra (Kenneth Walls), Joy (the late Gerald) Moore, Karen O'Leary, Kenneth (Cheryl) Janoski, the late Raymond Janoski, Lawrence Janoski Jr., and Jeffery (Ann) Janoski. She was a treasured grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.
A dedicated homemaker, Gladys committed her life to raising her seven children in a loving, supportive home. She had a deep appreciation for nature and history, which she expressed through her passion for gardening, her love of travel, and her longtime service on the Bridgeton Historical Commission. She was especially proud of her volunteer work at the historic Payne-Gentry House and her leadership role as Regent of a local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). One of her proudest achievements was locating and securing the return of a missing DAR monument to its rightful place in Bridgeton.
