Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Grace Shoemaker Kirwan, 96, passed away on Tuesday, May 9 th , 2023, peacefully in her sleep at home in Winfield, MO.
She was born on October 6 th , 1926, to Glenn Shoemaker and Rena (Johnson) Shoemaker in Louisiana, MO, after her 2 older sisters, Glenna and Kay.
Grace married Joseph Francis Kirwan on September 4 th , 1948, and they had 6 children: Diane, Stephen, Kathryn, Margaret, Christopher, and John.
She was an avid bird watcher, animal lover, St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, and loved solving jigsaw puzzles. Her beautiful smile was contagious as it would light up the whole room. She was kind, passionate and cared so deeply for the people around her. Grace was a loving, fun spirited, spunky soul that made an impact on so many lives and will be forever missed.
Grace is survived by 5 of her children, Steve Kirwan, Kathy (Bob) Rogers, Margy Faulkner, Chris (Annette) Kirwan, John (Teresa) Kirwan and son-in-law Jim Bland. She was a beloved grandmother of 11: Jessie, Jamey, Jackie, Katie, Laurie, Bobby, Andrew, Abbey, Colleen, Courtney and Kelly; as well as a great-grandmother to 11 more: Logan, Taylor, Joey, Dylinn, Ben, Charlotte, Cameron, Rayland, Jamison, Levi and Lester.
She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Rena, sisters Glenna and Kay, husband Joe, daughter Diane Bland and son-in-law Jan Faulkner.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 13 th beginning at 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at COLLIER'S Funeral Home, 3400 North Lindbergh Blvd. (St. Ann). Interment immediately following at Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery (Hazelwood). A social gathering will be held at Gettemeier's (St. Peters) to celebrate Grace's life following all services.
Pallbearers will be Jamey Bland, Bobby Rogers, James Gurley, Logan Mertens, Jeff Hutsler, Nick Flamm and Matt Roettger.
