Obituary

On Sunday, January 17 th , at age 85, Harold Glenn Higgins decided to "get on the road" for his next journey. Glenn stayed true to his character and remained stubborn, loving, and lively until the very end.

Glenn proudly served the United States in the Korean War, and upon returning home, worked at McDonnell Douglas, contributing to Project Mercury and the Gemini Spacecraft.  In 1965, Glenn boldly embarked on a journey to create his own path, by forming a painting and contracting company. He spent the entirety of his career improving residences and businesses in the greater St. Louis area.

Devoted Son, Dear Brother, Soldier, Loving Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandpa, Ole PawPaw, Friend, Moonshiner, Fisherman, Prankster and Consummate Giver are just a few of the titles reserved to describe such an incredible man. As the eldest son growing up in a variety of locations in Trigg County Kentucky, Glenn took his responsibility to his parents and siblings very seriously, and his devotion to their care and comfort is legendary. There are few finer examples of an individual providing for his loved ones. Everyone who knew Glenn has a story of how he impacted their life- by providing money, food, a place to stay, building a house, and most certainly a round of unforgettable laughter, along with a very essential cup of coffee with Milnot (yes, the Milnot company has been informed of the loss of their most devoted customer).

He is preceded in death by his parents Othel and Mammie Higgins (nee Thompson), his sister Hassie, brothers Howard, James and Kevin, his former wives, Wilma Jean Stifle (mother of his children) and Anna Ruth Chilton.  He is survived by his wife Carol Erber , and his children Glenda, Harold Glenn Jr, and Diana, as well as four grandchildren: Sara, Joshua, Dylan, Hannah, and six great-grandchildren Alaina, Adeline, Rigby, Raleigh, Liam and Evan, his sisters Vivian, Shirley, Kathy, sisters-in-law Janet and Roberta and many, many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life and interment services will be scheduled in the coming months to ensure family and friends can gather and celebrate safely. Until that time, please join us in toasting (Fireball or Moonshine recommended) to a special man with a heart of service, a wealth of love, and the gift of contagious laughter.

To Glenn-

"The Goose Flies High!"

As I travel down life's road
So heavy is my load
But some glad day I'm going home
I'll meet my loved ones there, in that land so bright and fair
When my life here is o'er I'm going home
