Obituary

Janet was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Frank C. Brown and Hazel (Lewis) Brown on March 9, 1952.  She grew up in Saint Ann, Missouri with her loving parents and five brothers and sisters.

Janet graduated from Jewish School of Nursing in 1975.  Looking for adventure as well as a career in nursing, she spent time as a staff nurse at Jewish Hospital, a nursing supervisor at Potosi Hospital, a nurse on a cruise ship, on staff at Yellowstone Hospital, and then started her long and expert time as an excellent IV therapy nurse.  She was at Incarnate Word Hospital, then a traveling IV therapist seeing patients in nursing homes.  She retired from St. Mary's after years as an IV therapist in the hospital, then as a highly skilled therapist in their infusion center, giving chemo and other IV treatments to patients.  Wanting to share her expertise, she invented the IV Arm to teach other RNs the basic skills.  It was sold to many doctors, hospitals and schools of nursing.  What an impact she had on the care of her patients over her long career.

Janet met Harvey Dow Wise in the spring of 1992 and they married on November 20, 1992 and they lived in the home she had built near Eureka, Missouri until her death on July 19, 2023.  They were married for over thirty years and were devoted to each other until the end.

Janet was a caring person who loved the outdoors and adventure.  She had a large circle of friends she considered to be chosen family and they will all miss her very much.

Janet was preceded in death by her beloved parents and all of her aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey Dow Wise and three step children, Kenneth, Steve and Johna and five grandchildren.  She is also survived by her five siblings, Jim Brown and his wife, Sue, Don Brown and his wife, Joann, Linda Hackney and her husband, Joe, her sister, Eileen Zlotopolski, Her sister Carol Greenberg and many beloved nieces and nephews.  She was greatly loved and will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers she has requested a donation to the Frank "Pistol Pete" Legacy Foundation.  Donations can be mailed to 910 South Main, Stillwater, Oklahoma 74074.  All donations will be used for grants for students who want to go to trade school instead of college.
