Jaunita
Henke
Jul 24, 1929 — Mar 31, 2021
Henke, Jaunita (nee Cambron) went to be at rest on the 31st day of March, 2021. She was the fifth child in five years born to William and Virgie Cambron (nee Tonkins). She was fiercely independent her entire life, even buying a car before she could drive and having the mailman show her the shift pattern. She was one of the first women without a college degree hired in traffic at the Wellston office of the Bell system and continued to excel throughout her life. She had a great zest for life and enjoyed living on both coasts before coming home to St. Louis to be close to her family. Jaunita married Arthur Henke in 1966 and they settled in Riverview. She was tireless when shopping for bargains and in her later years just as tireless when playing bridge with friends for hours. She will be fondly remembered for her love of gardening, making jelly, sewing quilts and cross-stitch, and wearing bright colors. She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Diane Bizzle), daughter Amy and granddaughters Katie Henke and Dawn Marsala (Nate). She will be missed by many. Private burial at J.B. National Cemetery. Memorials to the Humane Society appreciated.
