Jimmy Harm Smith (Smitty), age 78, of Maryland Heights, MO passed away on December 5th, 2023, at his home.
Jimmy was born on February 25, 1945, in Greenville, Mississippi to Samuel E. Smith and Helen L. Smith (Davis). He had six siblings, Samual, Gary, Robert, Shubert, Clara and Jeannie. He married Evelyn L. Smith on August 29, 1964. Shortly after he joined the "Regular Army" and served from 1964 to 1967. He was the youngest person in the European Army (Turkey, France and Germany) and the first to ever make rank from private to E6 in a short period of time. His responsibilities included a position as Active Jack, Platoon Leader and High-Speed Morris Code Operator. Jimmy farmed for many years with his father and brother Gary. He was a volunteer Firemen for Maryland Heights Fire Department, and he was a Plumber and a member of Plumbers Local 35 in 1968 to 2006 when he retired.
Jimmy loved spending time with his wife and family. He loved to take road trips with his brother Gary and Cousin Sonny. Taking long motorcycle rides with family and friends which included yearly trips to Sturgis South Dekota. He loved to meet for breakfast weekly and spend time with his dear friends some of which included Phil, Skip and brother, Gary. Jimmy is survived by his wife Evelyn and his children Connie L Smith (husband-Johnny), Jimmy H, Smith Jr (wife-Tracy), Holly A. Wichlan (huband-Anthony Wichlan), Natasha R. Camden (husband- Jerod). Grandchildren- Jessie Karl (husband- Brandon), Amber Hazel-Baker (fiance' Mike Boyer), Jenna England (husband-Spencer), Bailey Baker, Tori Fitch (husband - Larry), Brady Stubbelfield (husband- Cody), Lane Smith (wife-Masson), Anthony Wichlan (TJ), Grace Jones, Ryiah Camden, Andrew Camden (Drew), Jaxon Camden, Liam Camden.
Great Grandchildren - Hadley, Gage, Landon, Lilyanna, Stella, Wyatt, Blair, Lawrence JR, Penelope, Jack.
Jimmy made an impact on many and he did not know a stranger, if you met him once you were a friend of his forever. He was most known for his kind heart and his extreme generosity. He will forever be remembered and missed.
Visitation will be held December 7th, 2023, at Collier's Funeral Home from 4pm to 8pm. Services on December 8th, 2023, at 11:30 and shortly following he will be transported to Jefferson Barracks, where he will be laid to rest.
