JoAnn Mary MacLellan

February 19, 1939 – January 31, 2024

JoAnn Mary MacLellan, age 84, passed peacefully on January 31, 2024, surrounded by family and fortified by the Sacraments, prayers and blessings of the Catholic Church. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 19, 1939, to Annabel (Richarme) and J. Stuart MacLellan.

JoAnn spent her youth in the beloved family home on High School Drive in Brentwood (St. Louis), Missouri and on frequent trips to visit family in New Orleans, Louisiana. She attended elementary school at St. Mary Magdalen and graduated from Nerinx Hall High School.

She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports, Cardinal baseball, Blues hockey, housesitting dogs, Dairy Queen and driving through Lone Elk Park. She will be missed and cherished in the hearts of many.

JoAnn is survived by her children, Rebecca (Bill) Niehoff, Michael (Christie) King, Kerry (Brad) Bakula, Daniel (Elena) King, David King, and John (Kim) King. She is the proud grandmother ("Joey") of seventeen grandchildren: Lydia and Joseph Niehoff; Michael, Jr., Annabel, Augustine, and Gabriel King; Samuel, Charles, and Luke Bakula; Emily (Becker), Daniel, Jr., and Theodore King; Chelsea and Carlee Serfass; Alex, Austin, and Jake King; two great grandchildren: Beatrice and Hayes; sisters Sissy and Mary, brothers Jimmy (Pat) and Chris, and numerous nieces and nephews. JoAnn is preceded in death by her daughter Amy King, her sister Gerri, and her parents.

The family extends abundant gratitude and appreciation to the staff of AccuCare and Phoenix Hospice for their gentle hands and tender hearts.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on February 10 at 11:00 AM with visitation in the church beginning at 9:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorial contributions to be made to Sunnyhill, Inc in memory of JoAnn MacLellan.
