John P. Groff

February 21, 1952 - November 3, 2024

John P. Groff, 72, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, surrounded by and in the comfort of his family. John was a devoted husband of 49 years to Mary Jane (Moriarty), cherished father of Suzanne (Jared) Rodgers, loving grandfather to Cyrus and Shane, and proud great-grandfather to Amani & Giovanni. Dearest brother of Joanne (Dale) Webster, Randall Groff, and Mark (Julie) Groff, brother-in-law of 19, and uncle to 23 nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful great uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend to many.

John was born February 21st, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa to Howard and Peggy Groff. John received his bachelor's degree from Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri, where he met his future wife, Mary. An avid scientist, John was awarded a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. John spent 25+ years working as a Biochemist for Abbott Laboratories in Chicago, IL. Highlights of John's career include technical support in cancer diagnostics, numerous patents and awards, and extensive international travel. John enjoyed reading, golf, gaming, and attending various sporting events. He was a kind and loving friend to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

To honor John's wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in his name.
