"Joe" Tolan

John "Joe" Tolan, 86, of Florissant, MO and formerly of O'Fallon, IL, passed away on Friday June 6, 2025. He was born September 25, 1938 in Belleville, IL, the beloved son of Edna (nee Quirin) and Joseph Jerome Tolan. Joe graduated from Cathedral High School in Belleville, IL. After serving in the Army he began a career in sales. He worked primarily at Sears Roebuck and Co. for nearly 25 years before going back to school. He became a Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician and Polysomnography Technician and held an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree.
Joe knew no strangers, was a master joke teller and mushroom hunter, had a love of bowling, theatrics, music, and singing, but most of all a deep love for his family. He was a member of the Belleville Philharmonic Orchestra Chorale along with his daughters. He loved to perform and make people smile, whether from a stage, with a readers' theatre drama group, or just surrounded by family members. He was passionate about sharing the love of Jesus, along with his wife Lori, who he met in the Concert Ministries, Inc. St. Louis. Lori and Joe married on June 24, 2006. Together they were members of Fee Fee Baptist Church and Choir and active in ministry through organizations like Wheels for the World. Of all his accomplishments, the one he was most proud of was maintaining sobriety for 37 years and counting.
Surviving are his loving wife, Lori, nee Fleener, Tolan and sons Isaak and Timothy; a son, Joe (April) Tolan of Germantown, IL.; daughters Jennifer (Michael) Kozan of Nashville, IL and Kathy (Mike) Mancinas of Highland, IL. ; grandchildren Kayla (Grant) Lane, Skylar (Anisa) Durante, A.J., Tanner, and Rylie Tolan, Dallas Mancinas, Dakota Goodrich, and Iris and Adeline Kozan. He was also the proud great-grandpa of Brogan, Deegan, Raygan, Lemin, and Aiden.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edna (nee Quirin) Tolan, brother Michael Tolan, and daughter Angela Durante (nee Tolan).
Visitation will be held at Collier's Funeral Home, 3400 North Lindbergh Blvd., Saint Ann, Missouri from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 17, and 9:00 - 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 18. There will be a service at Collier's, officiated by Bob Pickett, at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Isaak and Timothy Tolan's college fund.
