Joyce A.
Blair
May 24, 1937 — Sep 4, 2022
Joyce A. Blair (nee Tennyson) Sunday, September 4, 2022.
Beloved mother, grandma, great grandma, passed away at home surrounded by her family. She was 85 years old. Joyce was born in St. Louis to Lee Orschell.
She eventually received her master's degree in Art Education at Webster University and spent her entire career as an educator until her retirement from Pattonville School District in 2000. She was married in 1962 to George "Bob" Blair. They raised a daughter, Sandra, and son, Thomas.
Joyce had a creative passion for art. She loved to paint and draw using any kind of medium. She had the ability to bring art to life and to convey this to elementary aged children throughout her teaching career. Her favorite place to visit was definitely the beach. She was an avid reader and loved to have her toes in the sand with a good book.
Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Lee Orschell, and uncle, William Garrett, as well as her husband, Bob Blair. She is survived by both of her children, Sandy Dickey and Tom Blair. Also surviving are her granddaughters, Kristen (Robert) Knudson, Lauren Blair, Madison Blair, Brianna Dickey, and Alex Dickey. Plus, great grandsons, Griffin Knudson, and Phoenix Knudson. She had many friends and colleagues that were close to her heart.
