Julia Ivan Koesterer, age 97, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026. She was born on December 28, 1928, to Louis and Julia Ivan, who emigrated to the United States from Hungary in the early 1900s.

Julia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Captain Albert G. Koesterer, USMC; her parents, Louis and Julia Ivan; her brother, Louis Ivan (Uldine); her sister, Louise Sturm (Leo) ; and her infant son, Keith Koesterer.

She is survived by her children, Bruce Koesterer (Winifred), Karl Koesterer (Mark Spurrier, M.D.), Curt Koesterer, and Alicia Koesterer (Dwayne Smith); along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces, all of whom were blessed by her love and devotion.

Julia dedicated her life to her family. She expressed her love through countless home-cooked meals, beautifully sewn creations, and a generosity of spirit that touched everyone who knew her. Her kindness, warm sense of humor, and unwavering willingness to help others created lasting memories for her family and friends. She took great joy in caring for those she loved, and her home was a place of welcome, comfort, and abundant hospitality.

Julia will be interred with her beloved husband, Captain Albert G. Koesterer, USMC, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

Her family will remember her with deep gratitude for a life well lived, a heart devoted to others, and a legacy of love that will continue through the generations she nurtured.

A celebration of Julia’s life will be planned at a future date. Details will be announced when arrangements have been finalized.
