Kathleen
Henry
Aug 4, 1933 — Sep 4, 2022
Kathleen ("Kay") Henry died peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 4, 2022. Kay is survived by her sister, Mary (Flynn) Conrad, her brother, Patrick Flynn, her many nieces and nephews and a close-knit group of lifelong friends. She is predeceased by her husband Granvel ("Hank") Henry, her parents Joseph and Rosemary (O'Reilly) Flynn and her brothers, Joseph Flynn, Michael Flynn, Thomas Flynn and Richard Flynn.
Kay was born in St. Louis on August 4, 1933. She graduated from Nerinx Hall High School in 1951 and went on to earn her diploma from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing, St. Louis in September 1954. She moved to Arizona and California and was granted her license as a Registered Nurse from the State of California in May 1961. She worked as an Operating Room Supervisor at Palomar Memorial Hospital in Escondido before returning to St. Louis in 1968 following the death of her husband. She subsequently went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from the College of St. Francis, Joliet, IL in May 1979. She worked at St. John's Mercy Medical Center as a surgical nurse until her retirement. Kay was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, aunt and friend.
She was a well respected nurse, a natural caretaker, talented seamstress and traveler. Her favorite things were to bar-b-que, tinker on projects, create beautiful flower arrangements, the Dollar Store, Hershey's chocolates, singing and Bailey's. But it was spending time with family and friends that was most important to her. More important than any material thing. She was a spiritual person who loved and praised God every day of her life and lived the way she believed. She was a beautiful soul and is already missed by everyone who loves her.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 9 at 9:00 am followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 am - both at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 12934 Marine Ave., St. Louis, MO 63146. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to BackStoppers, Inc.
