Born August 12, 1948, Larry was the only child of Basil (Jack) and Delores Armstrong of Burlington, Iowa, several years later Larry and his parents moved to Ballwin, MO.   Larry attended Parkway High School until he decided school wasn't his cup of tea, he enlisted in the Navy when he was just 17 years old.  Larry served in Vietnam, stationed in Saigon until 1967.  Once home from Vietnam, Larry was in the Naval Reserves until 1971. During his tenure, Larry received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, two bronze stars, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

In 1968 Larry met Karen Rose Pestka on a blind date, set up by their friends. They married on October 4, 1969. First came their son, Scott Morgan, and 8 years later they were blessed with a daughter, April Rose.

After returning to St. Louis from Vietnam, Larry worked for Sears and Roebuck and Holiday Inn Airport Oakland Park.  Larry retired from Holiday Inn after a long career in the maintenance department.
In retirement Larry enjoyed mowing his lawn, picking his granddaughters
up from school, sitting in his favorite spot on the couch to watch TV, enjoying their condo at the Lake of the Ozarks and BBQing pork steaks.  His most favorite thing in life was seeing his son patrol the City of Bridgeton as a police officer.

The beloved husband of the late Karen Rose Pestka Armstrong; father of the late Scott Morgan Armstrong and April (Matt) Barthelmass;  grandfather of Tyler Morgan Armstrong, Morgan Rose Barthelmass and Maryn Rose Barthelmass; recently becoming a great-grandfather (Briggs Morgan, Adley and Tatum Armstrong), brother of Rick (Margaret) Armstrong and Rob Armstrong, brother-in-law to Donna (Bill) Anderson and Joe (Lynda) Pestka.
