Larry W.
Clark
Oct 2, 1944 — Feb 17, 2025
Larry Wade (Butch) Clark, 80, of Maryland Heights, MO, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on October 2, 1944, to Morris Emerson Clark and Mildred Marie (Demoss-Tomlinson) Clark, Larry grew up in Edmundson, MO and graduated from Ritenour High School in 1963. That same year, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps (1963-1967), where he attained the rank of Sergeant and exemplified discipline and dedication. In 1983, he continued his military service by joining the US Navy Reserves/Seabees, ultimately retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after a distinguished career through 2004.
While stationed in Washington, D.C. as an MP at the Pentagon, Larry met the love of his life, Sharon Leslie Owen. They married on October 28, 1966, and together built a family rooted in love and hard work. Larry was a devoted father to his two sons, Ryan and Stephen, and took great pride in watching them grow and start their own families.
Beyond his military service, Larry spent most of his professional life in the construction industry. He began by working hands-on in his father's company before running his own for many years. In 1986, he lost his left hand in a construction accident, leading him to transition into construction sales in 1987. His strong work ethic and vast experience made him a respected figure in the industry. Later in life, he continued serving his community by working for the City of Maryland Heights for 22 years before officially retiring in 2023.
Larry was a proud and dedicated member of the Masonic fraternity, living by the principles of brotherhood, charity, and integrity.
He was a loving father to Ryan and Stephen (wife Nicole), a loving grandfather to Ryan's children—Ryan Jr. and Madison—and to Stephen and Nicole's daughters, Cambelle, Adriene, and Tessa. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Robert Wade(Ryan Jr.'s son) and Sadie Lynn (Madison's daughter). Loving brother to Lynn, Janice, Judy, and Beth. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister Lynn last year.
His legacy lives on in the values he instilled in his children and grandchildren—strength, resilience, and above all, the thoughtfulness he always showed to his wife and family.
Larry's presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
A celebration of life will be held on March 2nd at Collier's Funeral Home in St. Ann, MO from 4-8 pm. The service will be held March 3rd at 10:30 am. He will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Moolah Shriners Hospital Transportation Fund in his honor.
