Obituary

Lawrence Gerard 'Larry' Breeden was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond Heights, Missouri, on April 18, 1964. Hydrocephalus at birth shaped Larry's life in many ways, and may have ultimately contributed to his death at home on November 5, 2021 at age 57. He is preceded in death by his parents, James W. Breeden, Jr., and Dorothy A. Breeden (nee Cole) and his brother, James D Breeden. He grew up in the Richmond Heights home of Helen 'Nana' Cole, and died on what would have been her 125th birthday.

Larry found joy in simple conversations and joking with people around him, and his moments of frustration never seemed to last too long. He couldn't remember what he had for breakfast but he knew the words to every Bruce Springsteen and George Thorogood hit. He also knew the calls of every Saturday night square dance he learned growing up at the Breeden family cabin at Coldwater Club in Ste. Genevieve. He loved that place above all else.

Larry graduated from Dubourg High School in 1982 and took on a variety of jobs throughout his working years. He seemed to best enjoy working with Joe McEntee at Little Flower School. He loved his pick up trucks, especially the one he was driving when he hit that cop car.

Larry was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, brother in law, cousin, step father and friend to so many people, all of whom are sad that he is no longer with us in this world. He was a very special person with a quick wit and a kind heart and he will be missed.

Larry is survived by his wife of 22 years, Gerri L. Sonnier (nee Matson). They were married Valentine's Day 1999 on a beach in Puerto Rico. They loved to travel and attended many concerts and events together. Larry was close to Gerri's son, Jeremy K. Sonnier who must certainly have some interesting stories to tell.

In fact, please share your own interesting stories and memories about Larry in the Guest Book provided by Collier's funeral home.

Larry will be laid to rest with family at Calvary Cemetery. There will be a gathering in his memory at the Coldwater cabin on or about his next birthday, April 18, 2022. Suggestions for "In lieu of" contributions include St. Vincent De Paul , Humane Society , or Alzheimer's Association .
