Lawrence (Larry) Leroy Curl of Bridgeton, MO passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022. Beloved husband of 57 years of Celia (nee Bland) Curl; dearest father of Aaron Curl and wife, Eileen; loving grandfather of Jacob and Gretchen Curl.
Born in Russell, KS, Larry grew up in central Kansas and, after one year in college, joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He served his country with honor, respect and distinction and was commended for his leadership abilities. Larry rose to the rank of Sergeant, taking an honorable discharge in 1967 after four years of service. For three of those years, he was assigned to the H&HS Squadron at the Marine Corp Air Station in Yuma, AZ.
After leaving the military, Larry and his wife moved back to Kansas, where he graduated from Ft. Hays Kansas State College. From there, they relocated to Kansas City where Larry began his career in the property and casualty insurance business. In 1971, they relocated to St. Louis where they have resided since. Larry traveled throughout Missouri and Illinois as an insurance field agent for many years before retiring at age 62,
Larry loved pheasant hunting and fishing, doing handyman jobs around the house and spending time with his family. He also had a love for Jazz music, an interest born during his junior high school years, when he was a talented trumpet player in his school's classical orchestra.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 9, 1:00-2:30 pm, with a Memorial Service immediately following at 2:30pm, at Collier's Funeral Home, 3400 N. Lindbergh Blvd (St. Ann).
A private interment will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.
