Loretta Mary
Kenny
Apr 28, 1939 — Apr 22, 2026
Loretta Mary Kenny was nearly 87 years old at the time of her passing. She is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Koesterer and Kristin Marie Sebert. Loretta grew up in Connecticut and Florida before marrying and raising her children in St. Louis and Michigan. She moved to California in the 1980s and lived in Aliso Viejo for decades before eventually returning to St. Louis.
Teaching was both her profession and her calling; she taught English, French, and English as a Second Language during her long career. Her impact reached far beyond the classroom, and she maintained cherished relationships with many of her students long after their courses ended.
Loretta loved traveling, fine dining, learning new languages, attending the theater, watching college basketball, and studying existential philosophy. Though fiercely independent, she took great joy in her relationships with friends and family. She thrived on social interaction and delighted in making brief, meaningful connections with others at any event she attended.
She will be missed at every Fox and Muny curtain call and at every last-minute basket. She will be forever loved and remembered by her daughters in gratitude for her sense of humor about all things—including herself. They are thankful to her for teaching them to be strong and independent, for challenging them, for the spirited arguments, for teaching them to look at the world in different ways, and for showing them, over and over again, how much she loved them.
