Obituary

Lori L Handley, born Dec 2, 1932, (née Lahmeyer) passed away peacefully at Missouri Baptist Hospital on Sunday, February 21, 2021, after a brief illness. She was 88 years old.

Daughter of the late William Lahmeyer & Ethel Thomas, beloved wife of the late Jimmy Handley Sr. of St. Louis,  dearest mother of the late Jimmy Handley Jr. of St. Louis, dearest sister of the late James Herbert (Sally) Lahmeyer of St. Charles, dearest sister of the late Wanda Summers of St. Louis, dearest sister of Beverly (Jeff) Taylor of St. Louis, dearest aunt of Kathy Lahmeyer of St. Charles, dearest aunt of Jeri (Mark) Deatherage of Lyman, Wyoming, dearest aunt of Kimberly Frost of St. Louis, dearest aunt of the late Tamara Faulkenberry of St. Louis, dearest aunt of Becky (Jim) Hoefener of St. Louis, dearest great aunt of Lori (Luke) Meeks of Fort Bridger Wyoming, dearest great aunt of Billy (Kara) Deatherage of Magna, Utah, dearest great aunt of Berkley Frost of St. Louis, dearest great aunt of Hayley Frost of St. Louis. Our dear sister, sister in law, aunt, cousin and friend to many. Special thanks to Nicki Stern, who was invaluable, and assisted her for 13 years with her finances, bills & helping to keep her life organized!

Lori was a devoted, stay at home mother to her son Jimmy Glen, raising him in Hazelwood, MO. She was very involved in his school activities and Boy Scouts. She enjoyed spending time with her devoted, little white poodle, Pierre, who faithfully stayed by her side until he was 16 years old.

Lori loved gardening and had a plethora of beautiful flowers, trees and foliage in her front & back yard, which was always a colorful showplace. She would deny having a green thumb, always striving for perfection in her landscaping, yet her talent in this area was undeniable.

She kept a spotless home, always ready for guests. She relished reading her newspaper, watching the news, & was very vocal about women's rights and being pro-choice. She loved crafting, especially painting. She enjoyed shopping, & was an avid traveler, proud that she had visited every state in the US. Her summers were filled with adventure and discovery!

Lori had a sweet tooth, never passing up chocolate or a piece of pie or cake, always ready to stop at a restaurant on a moments notice. In her later years, she particularly enjoyed a great hamburger and fries-her most favorite two foods!

Lori lived at The Brentmoor on Delmar, for over 10 years, for the last chapter of her life, where she made many friends with the other residents and staff.

Visitation is at 10:45 am at Collier's funeral home, 3400 N Lindbergh, (St. Ann), on Friday, February 26, 2021, interment immediately following at Mount Lebanon Cemetery. Lori will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband and adored son. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
