Obituary

Our sweet Lynne Marie Murphy passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at the age of 50.

Born to the late Thomas Joseph and Virginia (nee Martin) Murphy (of DeSoto, Missouri). Beloved mother of Lillian Marie "Bug" and Hunter Murphy "Peanut" Hofstetter; loving sister of Stephen Thomas Murphy; dear niece to the late Fred and Barbara (nee Murphy) Ficht, Robert (her Godfather) and Lisa (nee Michalski) Murphy; and the late Edward, Sr. and Sue (nee Anderson) Martin; dear cousin and friend to so very many.

Lynne Marie graduated from Nerinx Hall in 1991. After graduation, she attended Jefferson College, where she earned a degree in Veterinary Technology, later completing certifications in Equine Science and Zoo Care.

During thirty years of veterinary service, Lynne Marie specialized in equine care, wildlife rescue, and anesthesiology, which she learned while working at the St. Louis Zoo. She spent her free time traveling with family and friends; riding horses; and teaching herself arts and crafts. At home, she enjoyed watching her beloved St. Louis Blues in her #38 Demitra jersey.

Her favorite hobbies were puzzling and photography. She took hundreds of thousands of photographs, and her favorite medium was physical black and white film. Her favorite subjects were her children, Ireland, and donkeys. Her newly discovered interest often found her building sprawling structures out of Legos with her children.

A memorial Mass for Lynne Marie will be held July 8, 11:00 am at St. Richard Church, 11223 Schuetz Rd, St. Louis. Interment will be private. There will be a celebration of Lynne Marie's life, following the memorial Mass, at her favorite restaurant, Rigazzi's, from 1-4 pm @ 4945 Daggett Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110.

Lynne Marie was an organ donor, and to date, her gifts live on in more than fifty recipients.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred by the family of Lynne Marie Murphy, to the National Alliance on Mental Illness; Mid-America Transplant; or the Wounded Warrior Project in her name.
