Margaret W.
Larry
Aug 30, 1924 — Dec 25, 2020
Margaret was born to the proud parents, Edward and Idell Washington in 1924. Margaret was the baby of 3 brothers and 6 sisters; Helen, Dorothy, Anna, Idell, Albert, Vivian, Issac and Claude.
She survived the Depression and lived through discrimination and racism. Margaret attended Vashon High School and graduated in 1936. Margaret was a tomboy growing up and was an excellent roller skater. She was accepted at Howard University with a full ride scholarship, but did not attend because she was afraid of traveling so far away from siblings and home. Margaret married the love of her life, Elvis Larry on June 17, 1952 (now departed). To this union 4 children were born, Charlotte, Angela, Arleen (departed) and Eric. She has two nephews that were like sons to her, Ronald Washington, Michael Allen and one niece, Delores Hester, who refused to accept that Margaret was not her mother. Two son-in-laws Carl Hubbard and Walter Johnson; daughter-in-law Antoinette Larry. Grandchildren, Anthony, Andr'e, Javon, Eric Jr. Shreika, DeMario and Ramses; great-grandchildren Gabrielle, Brandon, Sydney and Maximillian; great-great grandchildren Ari, Trevion, Emani, Javon Jr., Mikiel, De'Ara, Carter and a host of nieces and nephews.
She lived all her life in St. Louis and traveled to places such as Hawaii and Paris, France.
Her love for family was strong. Margaret was the Rock, Matriarch and Nurturer to all her children and other family members as well, just too many to name here.
She was a perfectionist and meticulous about organization and maintaining her checkbook to the penny plus stressed always to maintain a savings account. Margaret loved reading, taking pictures, working puzzle books, watching Westerns (which she called shoot-em ups). She has always been overly interested in politics.
She was very independent and she did not like to throw anything away.
Work History - Mayfair Hotel, Edison Brothers, Brown Shoe Company, City Hall of St. Louis, Department of Motor Vehicle, Precinct Captain in 21st Ward, McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, Wagner Electric. Her last job of 25 years was at The Circuit Court Building; first as a cashier then as a Judges Clerk until her retirement at the age of Seventy-Two. She received a proclamation from the Governor of Missouri.
