Margaret M.
"Peggy" Foley
Jul 26, 1940 — Dec 11, 2024
Margaret M. "Peggy" Foley (nee Clifford), 84, died Dec. 11, 2024, from complications of a spinal stroke that limited her mobility for the last nine months, but not her Irish spirit and certainly not her love for a good afternoon of bingo. A 50-plus-year resident of St. Ann and a member of St. Kevin's Catholic Church, she married the late Jerry Foley in 1959 and had three sons: the late John Foley (Wendy), Thomas Foley (Mary), and James "Boo" Foley (Melanie). After her boys grew older, she worked in the St. Louis office of former U.S. Rep. James Symington; for the City of St. Ann; and as administrative assistant to the chief of police of Maryland Heights, where she retired from in 2004. The daughter of William J. Clifford and Helen (Groneck) Clifford, she grew up on the near north side of St. Louis with her sister and brother, the late Elizabeth "Betty" Gibson and James Clifford (Cheryl), attending St. Liborius Catholic School and St. Alphonsus Rock High School. In addition to her two sons, she is survived by five grandchildren: Patrick Wroblewski, Andrew Foley (Jennifer), Brandon Foley (Toni), Timothy Foley (Natalie), and Sean Foley, along with the greatest blessings of her life, great-grandchildren Maggie, Colbie and Finnegan. She had numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends and did not know a stranger.
