Marilyn R
Hein
Nov 9, 1934 — Apr 17, 2021
Hein, Marilyn Rose (née Phelan), aged 86, daughter of James R. Phelan, Sr. and Mayme A. Phelan (née Coleman), fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, bathed, dressed in a beautiful pink nightgown, and adorned over her left ear with a white daisy, passed into eternal glory at 9:04 in the morning on April 17, 2021 at The Sarah Community in Saint Louis County, surrounded by her 3 children, the first and second born holding her right hand, and her third holding her left, 10 months after her diagnosis of stage IV cancer of the small intestine with liver metastases.
Marilyn was a dear and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She is survived by daughter Renée B. Nanneman (Steve Punch); sons Randal B. Hein (Sally Kinkead), Richard B. Hein (Tamara E. Blum); and her beloved grandchildren, Ana Maria Hein and John Henry Hein.
Marilyn and her beloved late husband Chester B. Hein celebrated their 60 th wedding anniversary on July 18, 2013. She was a member of the Class of 1952 at Incarnate Word Academy. She was co-owner with Chester of Hein Tax Service in Saint Ann, Missouri, a family business his late mother, Lovell N. Fellerman (née Stewart), founded in 1946, and now owned by their son, Randal in Bridgeton, MO. After many years of tax preparation Marilyn moved to the role of Office Manager and loved greeting and speaking with clients.
Marilyn was a member of Saint Anselm Parish since 1979, was a Past President of the Fort Worth Texas Garden Club in the early 1960s and continued her love of flowers and plants until her death. She was also an avid shopper and loved shopping for gifts for those she loved.
Marilyn and Chester, as owners of Hein Travel Service in the 1980s and 1990s, traveled the world together and maintained friendships with people all over the globe despite no common language. Marilyn lived a beautiful life full of creativity and friends.
Marilyn was also proud of her Irish heritage. James Phelan, Sr. was the baby and the only child of a large Irish Catholic family to be born in the United States, after Marilyn's grandparents, Edward and Bridgette Phelan, emigrated to the US in April 1892 from the village of Freshford in County Kilkenny.
