Marilyn A.
Pewitt
Nov 11, 1934 — Aug 9, 2021
Marilyn Pewitt, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Monday, August 9 th 2021 at the age of 86. She is survived by husband, Joe; children, Jeff and Shelly Pewitt, Eva (Pewitt) and Jim MacKoul; grandchildren Katie (MacKoul) and Eric Hillgren, Jamie MacKoul, Kali (Pewitt) and Michael Quinn and their children Julian and Rory, and Victoria MacKoul; brother Bill and Emily Mouser and family.
Marilyn and Joe were happily married for 65 years and had many adventures traveling the world together in their retirement years. She had a lifelong love affair with performing church music and drama, a love that passed on to her children and grandchildren. She also cherished the relationships made teaching in the International Sunday School class.
Marilyn's Master's Degree in Vocal Music gave her the opportunity to teach private voice lessons and led to the job she described as "the highlight of my life" teaching voice and drama at Missouri Baptist University. Her contributions to the University were recognized when she recently received the Theater Department Legacy Award for the drama troupe, In Charactre , which she established and continues on today.
In retirement, she volunteered teaching at Friendship International, English as a Second Language, and started a choir at River's Edge Senior Living. She will long be remembered for her warm, loving friendships. She is probably lining up the angels for voice lessons right now.
