Obituary

Mary Margaret Johnson
May 2, 1951 – February 11, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Margaret Johnson, who entered eternal rest on February 11, 2026, at the age of 74. Mary lived a life devoted to family, education, and service to others.

Mary was born on May 2, 1951, to Mary Margaret Goldstein O'Brien and Vernon Goldstein, who instilled in her the values of faith, dedication, and compassion that guided her throughout her life.

She graduated from Normandy High School and later earned her degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1969. Mary began her career as a physical education teacher at Ritenour Elementary, where she enthusiastically encouraged young students to stay active and confident.

On August 19, 1972, she married the love of her life, Thomas H. Johnson. Together they built a home filled with warmth, faith, and unwavering love. Thomas preceded her in death on July 25, 2025. Their marriage of over five decades was a testament to devotion, partnership, and enduring love.

Mary devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her three children, cherishing her years as a stay-at-home mother. In 1992, she returned to her passion for education as a Parent Educator with the Parents as Teachers program in the Pattonville School District. For over 20 years, until her retirement in 2013, she guided and supported countless families, helping parents nurture and educate their young children. Her patience, kindness, and steady encouragement left a lasting impact on the community she served.

Mary is survived by her children, Michelle (Nathan) Williams, Angela (Owen) Yamaguchi, and Scott (Callie) Johnson; and her cherished grandchildren, Jordan Martorelli, Owen Yamaguchi, Reese Williams, and Josephine Johnson. She was a proud and loving grandmother who treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren.

She found happiness in life's simple pleasures—playing tennis, writing her reflections, and coloring with creativity and calm. Mary will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, and steadfast love.

While we are deeply saddened that she is no longer with us, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with Thomas, dancing together again in heaven. Her love surrounds us still, and her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
