Nancy Ellen Cox, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born on October 16,1933 to Charles and Alta Phelps of Somerset, Kentucky. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, and three sisters.

Nancy moved to St. Louis to help take care of her brother's new baby. Afterwards, she became involved with the garment industry, and stayed until her retirement as manager of Suzanne's Fashions in Woodson Terrace. After retirement, Nancy stayed busy with alterations and quilting with her church. It was rare to find her away from her sewing machines or quilting books.

She was the cherished wife of the late Clifford C. Cox to whom she was married for 52 years. Nancy was a loving mother to her late son, Clark Clayton Cox, and is survived by her devoted son Cary and his wife, Beth Cox. Her legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, Ashley Ellen (nee Cox) and her husband Drew Holley, and Christopher Clayton Cox and his wife Tia Cox. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Brooke and Claire Holley and Skylar Meyer. Additionally, she was a beloved sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend.

Nancy's passions were many and brought joy to those around her. She was a gifted artisan, finding great pleasure and creative expression in sewing and quilting, often making cherished items for her family. Her warmth also extended to her kitchen, where her delicious cooking brought everyone together. Above all, her life was anchored by her unwavering faith in God and her active involvement in her church community, a place that provided her with comfort and camaraderie.
