Norman E.
Carter Jr.
Jul 30, 1960 — Apr 18, 2022
Norman "Butch" Eugene Carter, Jr. was called home Monday, April 18, 2022. Adored husband of Sally Carter for 28 years. Beloved father to Justin (Amber), Jerad (Ashley), Danielle (Garrett) and "Grandpa with the pool" to Cory Michael. Cherished brother to Darin, Donna and Shawn. True friend to countless others, never having met a stranger. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Willa "Willie" Vaughn, and Norman "Gene" Eugene and Imogene "Jean" Carter, brother Dan Griffin and grandson Camden Carter.
Butch was a member of Local 42 and retired from Merlo Plumbing after 27 years, just this past December. Co-workers said they "never knew if they were getting Norm or Butch" on the job site but enjoyed his years of knowledge and teasing, nonetheless.
Butch loved being outdoors or hunting almost as much as he loved his family. Always ready to show off his deer or turkey after each season. When he wasn't fiddling with his flowers or yard ornaments in the backyard, he could be found with Laura and Mark Goodson, two of his nearest and dearest, at their property, getting his four-wheeler into a precarious position, chain sawing any branch that got in his way, or sitting around a huge fire exchanging stories.
He kept everyone on their toes, whether he was sharing a "Normanism" or shooting off fireworks in every direction. Family and friends could expect equal parts teasing and love.
No one was a stranger to Butch, everyone was fair game for a good conversation, making friends everywhere he went.
Butch will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved him. There is a quiet hole in the hearts of so many of us, never to be filled by anyone else, until we see him again one day.
