Ricardo De
Guzman
Jan 22, 1956 — Aug 30, 2023
Ricardo Limosnero de Guzman, or "Ric," of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on August 30, 2023, following a brief but hard-fought battle against cancer.
Ricardo was born on January 22, 1956, in Tuguegarao City, Philippines, to Filomena and Salvador de Guzman. After he graduated from Fort Magsaysay High School, he went on to study engineering at Araullo University and obtained a BSCE in Civil Engineering. He started his first job as a Project Engineer at Saudi Consulting & Design office in Saudi Arabia, which kickstarted a successful 34 year career in Civil Engineering. He met his wife, Julieta, while in the Philippines. Together with their three children, they moved to Guam and then to the United States while he led building projects both domestically and abroad. After his retirement in 2017, he and his wife moved to St. Louis, Missouri, to be nearer to their adult children and young grandchildren.
His adventurous spirit pushed him to go on many travels with his loved ones. Some of his favorite travels were to Alaska, Italy, Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, and multiple trips back to the Philippines. In addition, he loved to drive around and explore local areas. His project-based job was perfect for this. He made friends easily everywhere he went as he was always full of laughter and jokes. He loved to exercise his mind and completed the crossword everyday. He was also a wonderful cook and made the best breakfast eggs.
He is remembered as a generous, humble, selfless, jolly, and friendly person to all who met him. To his family, he is remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, lolo, tito, and friend to many. And to his grandchildren, he is remembered as the best hide-and-seeker in the whole family. He is missed dearly.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Julieta, as well as children Arjay (Rachel) de Guzman, Margret de Guzman (Alex Wilson), and Bryan (Erin) de Guzman, siblings Luz Romualdo, Wilfredo de Guzman, and Julie Balabbo, and grandchildren Andrew, Gabriella, Aidan, Calvin, and Dominic, with another on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Filomena and Salvador de Guzman, and his grandson, Oliver de Guzman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 7th, 2023. Visitation 9:30 am until time if funeral mass, 10:00 am, at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church, 401 S Lindbergh Blvd. A procession and graveside ceremony will then be held at 11:30 am Bellerive Gardens Cemetery on 740 N Mason Rd.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation
