Obituary

Rita A. Berk passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the age of 84.

She was born on August 5, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late William and Gertrude Dolan, and was raised in Flossmoor, Illinois. Rita later married the love of her life, the late Morris "Moe" Berk III, with whom she shared a devoted and enduring partnership.

Rita is lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Mary E. Berk; Ann Marie LaRue and her husband, Dennis; and Karen Kalka and her husband, Randy. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Margaret Kalka, Kimberly LaRue, Marissa LaRue, and Reese Kalka. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Marian Schouten (Rich), and Donna Berk (late husband, Greg), as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Rita took great pride in her role as a stay-at-home mother and homemaker, dedicating herself fully to her family. She also served her parish faithfully as a secretary for nearly 15 years. Rita and Moe were active members of their church community and found great joy in their shared faith. Together, they created lasting memories while traveling extensively across the United States with their daughters.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the White House Jesuit Retreat www.WhiteHouseRetreat.org
