Robert "Bob" James Vogel, 79, passed away on January 20, 2023. He was born on August 8, 1943 In St Louis, Missouri to loving parents Stewart and Dolores Vogel.
Robert proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1964-1967. After his service in the Marines, he was a union master carpenter for 40+ years.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sherry Vogel, (Nee Trower), his son Bobby Vogel and his wife, Stacey; his grandchildren, Luke, Kalie, and Ben Vogel; his siblings, Julie (Dan) Trower, Jim (Sue) Vogel, John (Sheila) Vogel, Joe (Lisa) Vogel; his step sisters and brothers in law, MaryAnne Trower, Chris (Patti) Trower, Patrick (Cheryl) Trower, Mary Kay (Rick) Mertz, Sue (Jim) Fluchel, Nancy (Sonny) Bishop. Uncle to nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, godfather, uncle, nephew and friend.
He is preceded in death by his twin brother Ron (Betty) Vogel, his brother in law Chris Trower, His Parents Steward and Dolores Vogel, and his step mother Adeleine DeZutter.
Robert was very involved in the community and took part in the Bridgeton Optimist Club for 35 years, in addition to being on the board of St Mary's Athletic Association. He also acted as a boy scout leader, and later played volleyball and slow pitch softball with his friends of 40+ years Joe Larrew, John Wilson, and Frank Marchesi. Robert loved to fish and deer hunt. He was very proud of his military service in the Vietnam War, and to have went on the 99th St Louis Honor Flight with his son Bobby, brother in law Dan, and Nephew, Danny.
Masses preferred or memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Visitation Wednesday, January 25, 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Collier's Funeral Home, 3400 N. Lindbergh Blvd. (St. Ann). Funeral mass Thursday, January 26, 10:00 AM at Queen of All Saints Church, 6603 Christopher Dr. (St. Louis). Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
