Gaffney
Dec 4, 1959 — Jun 9, 2025
Sandra Gaffney (née Shoulta), born on December 4, 1959, passed peacefully at home on June 9, 2025 after a year-long battle with cancer. A woman of multiple talents and generous spirit, Sandra touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Chris Gaffney, and her cherished children: daughter, Jennifer (Darryl) Douglas (née Schmidt), and step-son, Nicholas Gaffney. She will be remembered fondly by her brother, David (Kim) Shoulta, her sister, Suzanne (Matt) Pelizzaro (née Shoulta), and grandson, Dominic Douglas. Her cousins, Mike Dickson and Kathy (Mark) Bell (née Dickson) will carry her memory forward. Sandra was predeceased by her father, Leslie Leon (Margie) Shoulta, and her mother, Shirley Shoulta (née Lowe).
Sandra was a proud graduate of Ritenour High School and went on to have a successful IT career at multiple companies. She first started working at McDonnell Douglas in 1978, which was then followed by EDS in 1991. Sandra's career also led her to Whitney Design / Household Essentials where she worked until her retirement in 2019.
Her passions were as varied as they were numerous. A connoisseur of the sweet, Sandra loved indulging in desserts. She also enjoyed sipping on her coffee in the morning and her preferred beer, Michelob Ultra, on the weekends. A fan of Classic Rock music, Sandra could often be found jamming to her favorite tunes. Her TV time was primarily devoted to NCIS, Law and Order, Blue Bloods, Dateline, and other "who done it" shows. She cherished movies, particularly You've Got Mail, When Harry met Sally, It's a Wonderful Life, and Hallmark Christmas movies. A sports enthusiast, Sandra was an ardent supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. She unwound with card games and puzzles with family and played softball, soccer, volleyball with friends to stay active in her younger years transitioning to pickleball in retirement.
Sandra's love for crafting was evident in her fondness for scrapbooking, Stampin' Up! card making, basket weaving, and other creative endeavors. She bargain-hunted for antiques, memorabilia, and kitchen items to support her passions of collecting, cooking, and baking. She also drew immense joy from being a passenger on motorcycle rides and her time at Bull Shoals Lake sitting in the screened-in porch or floating on the water. Sandra also enjoyed any beach that she could visit for walks along the waves, collecting shells, and basking in the sun. Sandra, frequently called "The Tourist" by her husband, relentlessly took pictures of activities, events, and everyday life to capture the moments forever.
Those who knew Sandra best would describe her as giving, kindhearted, thoughtful, and loving – a testament to the beautiful life she led. Sandra's light will continue to shine in the hearts of the many lives she touched. Her spirit, her laughter, and her love will forever be with us.
