Obituary

Stephen Francis Engelmeyer, 64, of Normandy, MO passed away on March 29, 2022 in St. Louis, MO.

Steve was born in St. Louis to William and Pauline Engelmeyer on July 6, 1957. He attended Christ the King grade school (a proud alumnus) and Mercy High School, graduating in 1975. He went on to earn a degree in Communications/Mass Media from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Steve worked at Boeing and for 32 years as an Administrator. Steve was an inaugural DJ at UMSL's The U radio station where he hosted the "Space is the Place" program for 12 years. He enjoyed working at the Peabody Opera House for several years after his retirement from Boeing. His love of music crossed all genres and eras, and he was affectionately known as "St. Louis Steve" at many music venues around the St. Louis, Kansas City, and Austin, TX areas.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, brothers William and Ray, sister-in-law Tomi, and brother-in-law Patrick Barry. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Barry Engelmeyer, sons Luke (Nicki Island), William (Emily), and daughter Jane (Cory) Patterson. In addition, Steve was the loving grandfather to Carter, Addison, Tuesday, Will, Marley, Frances, and Olive. Steve will be greatly missed by his brothers Donald (Renee), Gerald (Sharon), Paul (Mary Scully), and his "sistahs" Clare (Geoff) Plott, Barbara (Mark) Ryan, Mary Befort, and Joan Engelmeyer. He will be sadly missed by many Barry in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In the days ahead, a song will be heard, and you will think of Steve. A shooting star or a full moon will light up the sky, and he will be in your heart again. Steve will never leave us as long as we are listening and watching.
