Suzanne
Holzum
d. Nov 22, 2023
Suzanne "Sue" M. Holzum (nee Trebilcock) passed away on Wednesday November 22, 2023 at the age of 81. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Stanley, Sue was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was the cherished mother of Denise (Donnie) Inman, Doug (Julie) Holzum, Vicki (Jim) Faasen and Diane (Zach) Schwab. The loves of her life were her grandchildren Michael (Mary) Holdegraver, Kristen (Kevin) Cooper, Billy Dehner, Jake Holzum, Courtney Faasen, Sophia Faasen, Ben Uptain, Katie Holzum, Rylie Faasen, and Marissa Uptain. She was the devoted sister of Marianne (Vince) Drake and dearest sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Family and friends meant everything to Sue. As a member of the graduating class of 1956 at Our Lady of Presentation Catholic Church in Overland, MO, and Mercy High School, Sue helped organize reunions for her class and enjoyed socializing with many who met her.
As a mom, she was a devoted volunteer at school events, supporter at sports games, and loved anything that meant spending time with her family. As a grandmother, she often beamed when talking about her 10 grandchildren and would explain to anyone how each of the grandchildren had their own personality. She loved hearing their stories, and they each made lasting memories with grandma.
As her children grew older, Sue was a partner with her sister Marianne in Northwest Screenprinting and also started a vending company with her husband Stan. She enjoyed being involved and helped to support her family in any way she could.
Her hobbies included playing bingo, sewing, playing cards most Wednesdays with family, and watching the deer run through her backyard. Sue had a passion for Hallmark Channel movies, no matter what time of year it was, and she enjoyed playing computer games at the kitchen table. Recently she became a season ticket holder to the St. Louis Ambush indoor soccer team where she was an avid supporter. She loved visiting and reminiscing with grade school and high school friends and going out to dinner with her family and lifelong friends.
Over the last decade, Sue had many health issues that made life tougher and more difficult, which frustrated her many days. She continued to fight her hardest during these times and was a role model for her children and grandchildren on the importance of not giving up. She was proud to show off her family at weddings, birthday parties, holiday celebrations and the college and high school graduations of her children and grandchildren. Sue enjoyed spending time with all of her extended family and friends.
Sue lived a very full and fruitful life that was surrounded by love, many laughs and precious moments that made her life an inspiration to those around her. She will be missed immensely by her family and friends, but the lessons her children and grandchildren were taught by her and Stan will continue for generations to come.
We love you, we will miss you and will never forget all you have done for us.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
