It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Toney Peternel.
Toney Peternel, 89, from St. Charles, Missouri, passed away peacefully Friday March 28th, 2025.
He was born on May, 9th, 1935 in Ljubljana Slovenia to Anton and Ivana Peternel. On November 2nd, 1963 he married the love of his life, Fredrica (Erika) Skof.
Toney was a pioneer choosing to move his wife and three step sons from Slovenia to the United States in 1968. His motivation was to provide a better future for the family! He learned how to fish and hunt and really enjoyed these activities. He was also an avid painter, gardener loved to travel and enjoyed doing things around the house. He cared for and loved his wife Erika of 62 years and raised his step sons as if they were his own! He loved and cared for every member of his large family!
He is survived by his wife Fredrica (Erika), his son Robi Peternel, his step sons, Gabriel Lusa and Richard Lusa, grand children, Gabriel Lusa Jr., David Aaron Lusa, Richard Lusa Jr., Mallory Irene Keppler, Saša Plečnik, Zala Plečnik, Jure Plečnik, Špela Kralj, Borut Pečkaj, son in law Anton Pečkaj and 17 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Janez Peternel and Miloš Peternel. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Maja Pečkaj and step son, Paul Lusa.
A service for Toney will be on Monday, April 7th, 10:00 AM at Collier's Funeral Home, 3400 North Lindbergh Boulevard, Saint Ann, MO. 63074 with a private family grave site service immediately after.
We understand that not everyone will be able to attend the service but please join the family for a Celebration of Life on Monday, April 7th, 6:00PM at Lighthouse Baptist Church 3025 North Lindbergh Boulevard, Saint Ann, MO. 63074. A meal will be provided.
