Virgil G.
Harris
Jul 22, 1940 — Nov 2, 2024
Virgil George Harris passed away saturday November 2, 2024 at Progress West Hospital. He was born July 22, 1940 to Maud and James Elmer Harris. He grew up in Advance Missouri until he moved to Saint Louis as a teenager. He served 4 years in the Army after which in 1961 he married the love of his life, Linda Campbell, despite no fortune. He retired an experienced machinist and National Guard.
He was the youngest of 12 and is survived by his daughter Shawna Nelson; granddaughter, Cailley Nelson; great grandchildren Kolton, Kaydence, Kalynn Schollmeyer; three Sister in-laws, and one brother-in-law.
He had a passion for history and collecting coins. He spent his golden years traveling with his wife, to see the wonders of our Country, trying their luck at new casinos, and finding new birds to watch. He enjoyed fishing, walk-abouts, singing silly songs (no mater the quality), and time with his family.
His values of honor and kindness ran deep in his core and showed in his devotion to the people he loved, most of all his wife who has held his heart since her passing. He will be the forever patriarch of his family and missed by many.
