Virginia Ann
Bell
Jun 9, 1938 — Mar 12, 2025
Surrounded by love, Virginia Ann Bell (nee White) entered heaven on the afternoon of March 12, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Clara White; brother, Lawrence (Larry) White and her beloved husband of over 40 years, Warren William (Bill) Bell.
Little did Virginia know that the charming gentleman she fanned and sat behind at her sweltering University of Missouri, Columbia graduation would eventually become the same gentleman who would steal her heart months later. After braving that heat, Virginia headed to St. Louis to teach Home Economics in the Parkway School district. It was there, amid the hustle and bustle of school hallways, that she again crossed paths with Bill—a freshly graduated math teacher. As payback for the fanning at graduation, an ice cream date was due and a true love story began.
After marriage, Virginia left the home economics department to embrace her role as a full-time mom. With all the passion and devotion you'd expect from someone who truly believed in the importance of raising her children in love, Virginia built their home. But it wasn't just her family who benefited from her boundless love. Virginia was also deeply involved in her community, serving at Fee Fee Baptist Church and participating in Bible Study Fellowship. Her faith wasn't just a part of her life; it was woven into her very being.
Her love for children was immeasurable, and she poured that love into teaching them about their Savior, a calling she embraced for many years. Virginia's legacy, full of grace, laughter, and an unwavering love for God and family, continues to inspire all who knew her.
Virginia had a passion for cooking. From meals on wheels, to her own catering company, to nightly dinners at her kitchen table, food was love. She was never too tired to make someone a plate. Everyone was welcome in her home and they always had a place at her table.
Mom, as she was affectionately called, is survived by her son, John (Julie) Bell of Danville, KY and her daughter, Anne (Tony) Singer of Edmond, Ok. In addition, Nanny, her most cherished name, is also survived by her five grandchildren: Jacob (Larissa) Singer of Lee's Summit, MO; Brady (Ashleigh) Bell of Sicklerville, NJ; Hannah (Matt) Zuchowski of Norman, OK; Brittany (Turner) King of Atlanta, GA; Alex Ann Singer of Edmond, OK and three incredible great grandchildren.
A time of remembrance and celebration will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Colliers Funeral Home, 3400 N Lindbergh, St. Ann, MO 63074. Visitation will start at 10:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. A private time of burial for the family will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Dr. William Bell Scholarship for Student Teachers; University of Central Missouri Alumni Foundation, PO Box 800, Smiser Alumni Center Warrensburg, MO 64093 or the Silverado Barton Springs Memory Care Employee Fund, 5200 Davis Lane, Suite A, Austin, TX 78749
