Marlou Dale
Davis
Nov 30, 1948 — May 24, 2018
Dr. Marlou D. Davis, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church , went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 24, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones, after a valiant fight following a tragic event that took his life too soon. Beloved husband of Karen F. Davis (Luchsinger), dear father and father-in-law of Mary Ann (Philip) Mackey and the late Marlou Davis II, dear grandfather of Kasey Davis, Madison Moriarty, Marlou ("Trip") Davis III, Philip Joseph ("PJ") Mackey, Jr. and Cadence Mackey, dear brother and brother-in-law of Lucy Davis, Elvard (Bonnie) Davis, Myron (Joyce) Davis, Mary Lee Davis, and Eugene Davis, beloved son of the late Elvard Lou and Mary (McCarty) Davis, dear friend to many.
Born in the Philippines, Dr. Davis's family moved to St. Louis when he was only four years old. He attended Washington University on a full academic scholarship and went on to attend University of Missouri – Columbia Medical School. He started his medical career as a surgical intern at Saint Louis University, followed by an OBGYN residency at St. John's Mercy Hospital and a family practice residency at Lutheran Hospital. He continued to care for patients for over thirty years in private practice with offices throughout the St. Louis area. Dr. Davis not only offered his patients superior medical care, he was a trusted friend and confidante, always providing a listening ear, guidance and support.
In addition to his medical career, Dr. Davis was an avid entrepreneur. He was a man of many achievements and was always developing his next business idea and venture. A world with his ideas and passion was simply a more interesting place. He enjoyed history, science and loved to read and write, but his ultimate and unwavering love was for his wife, Karen, of almost fifty years, his children, grandchildren and extended family. His most treasured times were with his family, from simple car drives with his wife, to family gatherings celebrating milestones and holidays, to always lively conversations about how to save lives and the world or make something better. We are forever grateful for his unconditional love, wit, raw enthusiasm, engaging conversations and wisdom. We will dearly miss him, but he will remain in our hearts forever.
